Sabah FA to launch probe over Twitter comments

Alijus Sipil
Sabah Football Association is set to launch an investigation over the player's comments on Twitter last week.

The player who was one of the 15 players that will not get their contracts extended by the Sabah FA for next season caused a stir among the football community here when he twitted "Congratulations to Sabah FA for the worst training session in history of football! Never say it can't get worse!" on September 21.

And on the same day he also posted "I just tried to say: They get McCreery, a fantastic & experienced coach (ManU, QPR), but don't let him take any decisions".

Sabah FA Secretary General Alijus Sipil when contacted said prompt action will definitely be taken once he received the full reports from coach Andrew Majanggim.

"I am still waiting for the official reports before I can bring it up to the top management and the disciplinary committee, until then I will not make further comment."

However, he assured that the player who is still under contract until the end of November will have a fair hearing if he is to call up and he will be given the chance to defend himself over his action.

Meanwhile, it will be a hectic weekend for the State preliminary squad, as they will travel to Brunei this Sunday for a friendly match against the Sultanate team.

And a day before that, they will have an away match against the Ranau selection as well.

The players that will make the trip are AndreS. Tipay, Dendy Lowa, Didie Arizal, Razid Gafar, Zulmansyah Aling, Adiafandi Dullah, Julamri Mohammad, Leopold Alfonso, Juffry Omopor, Irwan Jamil, Rosdin Wasli, Alto Linus, Radzi Mohd Hussin, Zainizam Marjan, Ibnu Kassim and Sharuddin Yakup who has just returned from his loan move from Sarawak.

Skuad Sabah benam Pilihan Keningau

12 not axed: Sabah FA

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Football Association clarified that the 12 local players who will not be donning State colours next season are not axed as reported earlier.

Vice President II Datuk Yusof Kassim called Express Sports and explained that these players were merely informed of the decision that their services are no longer needed for the coming season and their existing contracts will not be renewed but the FA will continue to pay their salaries until the end of their contracts.

"They are not sacked as contrary to the reports.

The management has decided to rebuild the team for the challenge ahead and it was just unfortunate that they are not part of the plan for the new season."

"The reason we gave them early notice is to allow them the time to look for other teams next season and at the same time there is also room for mutual consent if they want early release from their existing contractual date," he added.

The committee had on Monday held a meeting to deliberate on the status of the current State players and the names released later saw the FA deciding to let ex-captain Mohd Reithudin Ag Emran, Mafry Balang, Mohd Farris Mat Isa, Ronny Harun, Azizon Abdul Kadir, Syed Adney Syed Hussein, Sanjos Sundawat, Safuan Ibrahim, Naim Ahmad, Zuraindey Jumai, Bobby Gonzales and Razlan Oto to go free after their contracts end in November.

Yusof who chaired the meeting to endorse the decision on Monday evening wished the players the best in their future tenure.

"It was not an easy task to make as we have to sit for three meetings to study the reports from all quarters thoroughly before making the decision.

We have no doubt these players have tried their best for the team during the season but we also have our own assessment and a certain standard to base on so a final decision had to be made for the good of the team," he said.

For those players whose names are not on the list, there may still be a possibility that they may not be featured next season as both parties have still yet to negotiate on terms.

Only youngsters Rozaimi and Sabri are sure to make the senior team next season together with three other fellow President Cup players Leopold Alphonso, Razid Gafar and Adiafandi Dullah who have been promoted to the senior team as professionals.

Three others - Endre S. Tipay, Dendy Lowa Didie and Zulmanshah Aling will be registered in the President Cup squad next year and they will be playing a supporting role to the seniors.

Sabah FA drops 14 players for 2013 season

12th September, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: Revolution.

That’s what the Sabah FA has done to its senior team after deciding to part ways with more than half of its players from the current squad, of which, most of them are old guards and top earners.

“We have decided not to renew the contract of 14 players, including the two foreign imports,” said the FA Vice President I Datuk Yusof Kassim after chairing the team management committee meeting late Monday evening.

As revealed by the New Sabah Times Sports, among the 14 dropped are the two former national goal keepers Azizon Abd Kadir and Syed Adney.

Another former national player defender Ronny Harun also saw his return to the state cut short. The Sipitang-born player plied his trade with Kedah and Terengganu for four seasons before returning home early this season.

Former captain and defender Md Reithudin Ag Emran is also not part of the FA’s plan for the new season so are utility man Mafry Balang, defender Mohd Fariss Azlan Mat Isa and midfielder Zuraindey Jumai.

Strikers Bobby Gonzales and Razlan Oto were also shown the exit door followed by defender-cum midfielder Sanjos Sundawat.

Bench-warmers midfielder Mohd Safuan Ibrahim and defender Naim Ahmad hardly made it into the first 18 all season.

The duo completed the list of the 14.

The two foreign players are Australian Brendan Gan and German Hendrik Helmke.

Of the 14 players, six are currently on-loan with teams involving in the on-going Malaysia Cup.

Bobby and Ronny are with Sarawak while Reithudin, Fariss and Zuraindey are donning Perak colours and Mafry in Kelantan … with the latest development, they might as well seek a permanent move to their respective teams.

“We would like to thank them for their contributions while they were with the team, and also we like to wish them all the best on their future endeavors,” Yusof added.

Yusof, who chaired the meeting in the absence of Vice President I Datuk Osman Jamal, who headed the committee said that they came to the conclusion after holding three meetings (team management).

The remaining players, Yusof said will be offered new contracts.

Striker Zainizam Marjan and defender Rosdin Wasli are the only old guards left in the team after being spared the chop.

The rest who still have a future with the team includes leftback-cum flanker Julamri Muhammad, who is one of the few experienced players left.

Goalkeeper Irwan Jamil, Radzi Mohd Hussin, Shahrul Azhar Ture, Sumardi Hajalan, K Thanaraj, Sharudin Yakup, Alto Linus and Jufrey Omopor will all play a part in Sabah’s quest for a quick return to the Super League following Sabah’s demotion at the end of the 2012 season.

Apart from the 11 retained, they will also promote nine players from the junior side that won Sukma gold in Pahang last July.

Five out of the nine will be offered professional contracts while the remaining four amateurs are still eligible to be registered under the President’s Cup challenge.

In fact Yusof revealed that two of them, Md Rozaimi Abd Rahman and Sabri Sahar who are currently on-loan with Selangor and Kedah, have penned their contract.

The other three that will be given similar offers are Leopold Alfonso Otong, Razid Gapar and Mohd Adiafandi Dullah.

The other four are Didie Arizal Ibrahim, Endre S. Tipay, Dendy Lowa and Zul Mansshah Aling.

“These players (nine) will stay with the seniors and we will groom them for the future. With them staying with the seniors, they will be more room for new players in the junior squad,” said Yusof.

On the foreign imports, Yusof said that they will be import players coming for trials at the end of this month.

“Once we are ready, they will be here and probably by the end of this month,” said Yusof.

Secretary General Alijus Hj Sipil, his two assistants Tuan Hj Nizam Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Titingan and Junaidi Ahmad Fauzi, head coach David McCreery, former coach Justin Ganai, supreme council member Juil Nuatim, executive secretary Hasbullah Yahya and team manager team manager Yahya Kassim were among those that attended the meeting.

Cerita Admin: Malam penentuan buat pemain-pemain Sabahawks

Sama-sama kita nantikan.

Latest news on Sabah FA : Showdown Talks

10th September, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: In a much anticipated day, Sabahawks are set for a showdown talk with their employer, the Sabah FA tonight.

The talk is to finalise the FA’s earlier decision on shirkers before they begin to wield the axe on the culprits in the team.

Its Executive Secretary Hasbullah Yahya when contacted yesterday confirmed that the team management meeting will take place tonight at the FA’s office at Dewan Maksak in Likas here.

“It has been set for 8pm, and will be attended by all of the committees, except for Datuk Osman Jamal, who is on official duty overseas. In his absence, the meeting will be chaired by our Vice President II Datuk Yusof Kassim,” said Hasbullah.

The meeting was supposed to be held over the weekend, but due to the unavailability of its committees, it was fixed for tonight.

The main agenda will be the FA’s earlier decision of dropping 13 players, including its two foreign signings for the new season.

And it will be interesting to see if they stick to their earlier decision.

The only two players confirmed out for next season are imports – Australian Brendan Gan and Hendrik Helmke, who was signed midway through the season replacing the crocked Michael Baird – whose one-year deal will not be renewed.

It is believed that the two former national goalkeepers Azizon Abd Kadir and Syed Adney Syed Hussien are among those in the drop list and so is former national defender Ronny Harun and fellow defender Mohd Fariss Azlan Mat Isa who are injury prone.

More will follow suit after the meeting tonight as the FA is expected to announce the list of the players that have no place in the team.

Sabah FA AGM on Dec

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah FA is getting its house in order before holding its annual general meeting cum election of new office bearers, expected to be held later this year.

To do that, the FA will go to the ground and try to get all its 27 district affiliates to be registered with the Sports Commissioner.

Alijus Hj Sipil said they need to get these districts to be registered with the Sports Commissioner before they could hold the AGM.

“We will be going to the ground and conducting briefings with all these districts,” the FA Secretary General said when contacted yesterday.

“Since our registration with the Sports Commissioner early this year, we have made some amendments or rather new rules in our constitution.

“The main changes are that we no longer have this zone thing. Now, these districts will go under direct affiliation with the FA, unlike previously where they were under the affiliations of their respective zones.

“So, they must also register with the Sports Commissioner.

“We are trying to speed up things and hopefully by the end of October, all these districts will be registered with the Sports Commissioner.

“We are given (by the Sports Commissioner) until December (this year) to hold our AGM. And before we could do that, we need to put our house in order.

On the new constitution, Alijus said that it was made in good faith and that they want all districts to be involved in the development of football in the State.

“We hope, all these districts will play their respective roles in the development of football in Sabah, not just for the sake of the FA, but for the Sabah State,” he said.

Alijus said for a start, these districts can form a pro-tem committee.

“We will be going on a road-show to conduct briefings for these districts. During these briefings, we will bring official/s from the Sports Commissioner,” said Alijus, adding that they have identified six centres.

The six centres are Tawau, Sandakan, Keningau, Beaufort, Kota Marudu and Kota Kinabalu.

Tawau will kick start the road-show (briefing) where it will be held today from 9.30am at the Tawau Sports Complex. It is for Tawau, Semporna, Kunak and Lahad Datu districts.

The Sandakan briefing, which is for Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Beluran and Tongod districts, will be held on September 13 at the Sandakan Sports Complex, followed by Keningau (Keningau, Tambunan, Tenom and Nabawan) on Sept 18 at the Keningau Sports Complex.

In Beaufort, it will be held on September 20 at the Beaufort District Office (Beaufort, Sipitang, Kuala Penyu and Labuan).

Then in Kota Marudu on September 25 at the Hotel Marudu Inn (Kota Marudu, Pitas and Kudat), while the final briefing for Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, Penampang, Kota Belud, Ranau, Papar and Putatan will be held on September 27 at the Sabah FA office in Likas.
