Benedict Martin: Bakal bersama Sabah musim 2013???

Asal: Sarawak
Tarikh Lahir: 17 Julai 1987Umur: 25 Tahun
Tinggi: 175cm
Posisi: Pertahanan/Tengah (kaki kiri)
Pasukan terdahulu:
2005-2006: Skuad Sukma Sarawak
2007-2008: Piala Presiden Selangor
2009-2010: Perak FA
2011-2012: Sarawak FA

Petikan - www.seladang.net

"Alberts was impressed with Benedict whom he described as strong, speedy and had a good understanding of the game."

Sabah FA lining up six new signings to beef up squad

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Premier League football team is starting to take shape with the State body likely to wrap up deals with at least six players from the peninsula this weekend.

According to Sabah Football Association Secretary General Alijus Sipil, team manager Yahya Kassim has been given the mandate during a meeting held on Tuesday to seal the deal with the players that were identified by the team management to beef up the squad for their campaign next season.

He said the players concerned had already being approached earlier but four have yet to agree on their terms while the other two had more or less confirmed.

"We could not disclose their names as yet but we are definitely talking to two defenders, two goalkeepers and two strikers and I can disclose that the two who have agreed to join the team verbally are both strikers."

It is most likely one of them is Khairul Izuan Khalid who played for T-Team last season and who arrived here last week.

He played in three friendlies and has showed some deft touches to net in three goals so far.

Former Scottish league outfit Dundee captain and ex-Arsenal defender Rhys David Weston's chance to don the State colours next season is almost a done deal.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances he will likely fly in next week to join the team.

Alijus also hinted that an Ivory Coast top hitman may also come for a trial to fill in the other foreign imports' quota.

He added that there will be an open trial for all players both locals and imports to be held here from Nov 9-10 but the venue is yet to be decided as the Likas Stadium is under renovation at the moment.

Meanwhile, Alijus said the full list of the 2013 State squad will be announced on November 15 and the official signing ceremony will be held a day or two later.

Azizon leaves with a heavy heart

Kota Kinabalu: Goalkeeper Azizon Abd Kadir admitted he left the State with a heavy heart as he and his family flew back to Kuala Lumpur on Sunday evening.

The Perak-born custodian was one of the 15 players whose contracts were not renewed by the Sabah Football Association after three years with the team.

After his final coaching session with the Tabs junior players at the Likas Stadium on Sunday morning he told Express Sports that he was rather disappointed that he was unable to help Sabah avoid the drop at the just concluded season.

"It was just unfortunate that I could not do more for the team but I wish the team all the best and hope they will do well next season."

He admitted that the past one-year had been the lowest point in his career when he was relegated to the bench by the coaches for the most part of the season.

"I must say the first year was one of the highlights in my career when the team won promotion to the Super League."

He said he owed a lot to goalkeeper coach Awal Taham and Jasrih Jabirin for their help and advice in his training as well as on coaching the young kids. He also said he had a wonderful relationship with the Sabah FA.

"I have no ill feeling towards them. The management and staff had been wonderful and I thank them for their support throughout my stay here."

He said he will be going back to Kuala Lumpur to look for a new team and it will most likely to be another Premier League outfit.

Meanwhile, Jasrih who was the goalkeeper coach for Azizon in the 2010 season praised the former international for his professionalism both on and off the field.

"Azizon is the most professional individual I had the pleasure to work with.

To me he is the best goalkeeper the State has had for a long time with his undoubted skill and discipline."

"His record speaks loudly with him being awarded the best goalkeeper in the Premier League after helping Sabah win promotion in his first season."

He described Azizon as a very humble guy and always willing to go down to the field to help out the kids without any reward and kept himself occupied even when he was dropped from the team during the season.

"The kids and their parents in Tabs all felt sad and some of them even cried when they learnt about his departure and I am sure the State team are going to miss him too."

Mafry on cloud nine

Mafry with Bojan Hodak
22nd October, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: Outgoing Sabah’s utility player Mafry Balang is on cloud nine after winning his first ever major medal in his football career.

The Kg Long Pasia, Sipitang-born player, was part of the Kelantan side that edged Armed Forces 3-2 in extra time, to lift the prestigious Malaysia Cup crown on Saturday.

Mafry, 28, who was one of the 14 players, including two foreign imports, to be dropped from the Sabah team as the Sabah FA attempts to rebuild a squad for the future, came on in the second half and did his part in the victory over his former team – the Armed Forces (ATM) – at the packed Shah Alam Stadium.

Kelantan FA juara Piala Malaysia 2012

Indra Putra Mahayuddin menjadi wira pasukan Kelantan apabila menjaringkan gol kemenangan sekali gus memastikan Piala Malaysia menjadi milik The Red Warriors setelah hampa pada tahun lepas.

Kelantan, juara Piala Malaysia 2010, tiga kali mendahului ATM sebelum wisel penamat masa tambahan.

Tahun lalu, Kelantan kalah Negeri Sembilan.

Susulan serangan pasukan Kelantan, ATM melakukan serangan balas.

Kelantan mula menemui rentak permainan apabila terus melakukan serangan diketuai Kaptennya, Mohd Badhri Radzi.

Begitupun, serangan menerusi Indra Putra dan Afiq terus gagal membolosi gawang lawan apabila berjaya didakap oleh Farizal Harun.

Keghairahan Kelantan dalam memburu gol pertama akhirnya tertunai apabila rembatan kencang NorShahrul Idlan Talaha berjaya menewaskan Farizal Harun pada minit ke-43.

Bersambung babak kedua, tidak sempat Kelantan mengatur rentak permainan, ATM terlebih dahulu menjaringkan gol penyamaan menerusi Rezal Zambery Yahya iaitu minit ke-48.

Berikut kedudukan jaringan:

ATM (2) mln Kelantan (3)

Jaringan ATM:
Rezal Zambery Yahya minit ke-48
Marlon Alex James minit ke-61

Jaringan Kelantan:
Norshahrul Idlan Talaha minit ke-43 dan minit ke-49

Indra Putra minit ke-95

Yang terbaik: Mengapa Miroslav Klose dianugerah Fair Play Award?

Germany striker Miroslav Klose has received a fair play award from the German FA after admitting a goal he had scored last month in the Italian league was a handball.

The 34-year-old, who has scored 65 times for Germany in 125 appearances, won the prize after informing the referee a goal he had scored for Lazio against Napoli in Serie A at the end of September had hit his hand first.

After Klose's confession, the referee cancelled the goal as Lazio went on to lose the match 3-0 at Napoli. The German was praised by his opponents on the pitch and later by the Italian media for his honesty.

"The referee asked me if the ball had hit my hand," said Klose, who will play in Germany's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Sweden at Berlin's Olympic Stadium on Tuesday.

"I admitted it had and, for me, that was the obvious thing to do.There are so many young people who sit in front of the television, that we should set a good example."

Klose also won a similar award in 2005 when playing for Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga match against Bielefeld. After Bremen were awarded a penalty, Klose told the referee that the Bielefeld goalkeeper had the ball first before the striker fell in the area.

The referee reversed his penalty decision and also cancelled the yellow card shown to the goalkeeper.

Sabah FA likely to rope in ex-Gunner

Kota Kinabalu: Ex-Welsh international defender Rhys David Weston (pic) is most likely to be offered a contract by the Sabah Football Association to fill up one of the two foreign imports quota for the team's challenge in the Premier League next season provided he passes the medical test.

The Arsenal Academy graduate who came here barely a week ago had impressed both players and coaching staff as well as spectators with his commanding ability on the pitch and his skills on the ball.

With his vast experience in the sport, it will be a coup if the Sabah FA managed to get his signature before his departure this Friday.

What really made him stand out from some of the imports the team had over the years was his down to earth attitude.

He wasted no time to mix around with the local players and he also helped out to collect all the markers and balls after the training session as shown on Tuesday at the Likas Stadium despite the heavy downpour.

A feat you hardly see any of the local players do unless they were asked to by the coach.

The central defender, who captained Scottish side Dundee to second place in the 2011-2012 season in the first division admitted to Express Sports that he had never heard of Sabah before he boarded the plane here from London after he received a call from David McCreery.

"I always like to take up a challenge and for me it is a very good opportunity to try something new in this part of the world after more than 400 games as a professional footballer."

Meanwhile, McCreery who was engaged towards the end of the just concluded Super League season was very pleased with the players who are under his care so far.

"The players are all excellent and they always play as a unit, which is very good for team spirit."

The team had played several friendly matches to date featuring many of the President Cup players and they even managed to force a draw with the Brunei national team at their own home ground.

Their next friendly schedule is to travel to the east coast in Lahad Datu and Tawau on Oct 18 where they will play a couple of matches with the local selection.

Cebagoo FC – Village outfit joining elite

8th October, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: As the saying goes a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, and that is the case for Cebagoo FC, who were once a mere village outfit.

That will all change following their imminent appearance in the FAM Cup.

The Sepanggar-based outfit is all set to become Sabah’s sole representative at the competition, which is dubbed as the country’s third division league, next season.

Cebagoo will be the fifth local club to have made it into the competition after Taya, Likas United, Internacionale, Gunosukod Pangaits and Beverly FC.

It has been five years since Beverly FC featured in the tournament. Beverly did well to reach the final before bowing out to Proton FC 4-2 in the final. Despite the defeat, they were among the four teams that earned promotion to the Premier League.

The other two teams were Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and Felda United. Unfortunately, they decided to pull out obviously due to their financial status.

Of the four, only Felda United still remain in the M-League where they have grown in status and are currently among the Super League teams.

Cebagoo FC president Mohd Joh Wid said this will be another milestone for the club that was established in 1991.

“It started from a small village team. Initially, it was known as Cebagoo Star before rebranding it to Cebagoo FC some time later,” he revealed at the launching of the club held at the IKMKK Theatre in Sepanggar over the weekend.

“Then majority of the players are from the same village, before slowly taking players from nearby villages.

But today, Joh revealed, their players are from all over Sabah, and this is in line with their desire to grow bigger.

“After 20 years, we finally managed to become champion,” he said referring to their feat of lifting the KK Carino League title last year.

“We are also registered with the Malaysian Sports Commissioners office. Our application was approved last year,” he said.

Club advisor Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub, Sabah FA Secretary General Alijus Hj Sipil, Ben Wong from Ararat Sports & Souvenirs Sdn Bhd, who will be one of the club’s sponsor, as well as Ajahar Abd Latif, IKMKK Sports Coordinator were also present at the launching.

Joh also confirmed that they have been given the nod to represent Sabah at the FAM Cup by the Sabah FA. However, he admitted there are several requirements they need to fulfil before their dream can become a reality.

Among the requirements are, they need to secure a whopping some of RM300, 000 security as well as must have at least RM50, 000 in the club’s account and they must have qualified coaches for the team.

But a lack of a good training field is a problem for Joh.

“This is one of the challenges we will be facing,” stressed Joh.

Meanwhile, Alijus said that they will try their best to assist the club in any possible way.

In relating to the qualified coaches, Alijus, who is also in the FA of Malaysia Competition Committee, said that for Cebagoo FC, they need a FAM Cup Licence B coach to lead the team, as the new ruling of wanting teams to have Licence A for both the head coach and assistant coach, will only be implemented in 2015 (for FAM Cup).

Alijus also said that the FA is proud with what Cebagoo FC is doing while hoping that they will continue with the good efforts.

“We hope they will continue with their commitments and efforts and on our part we will try our best to assist and cooperate with the club,” said Alijus.

Cebagoo FC has big plans

7th October, 2012

KOTA KINABALU: Cebagoo FC has officially unveiled their plans to take part in the FAM Cup League next season on Friday.

But the Sepanggar-based club are still a few steps away from turning their dream into reality to eventually become the fifth local club to have represented Sabah in the competition after Taya, Likas United, Internacionale FC, Gunosukod Pangaits and Beverly FC.

They have already got the nod from the Sabah FA, but they still need to fulfill several requirements set by the FA of Malaysia Competition Committee, or else their plan will remain as a dream.

That aside, Cebagoo FC are a little bit more ambitious than the rest, as they too are determined not to become a one-season wonder.

Instead they want to compete against the best in the country for as long as they could.

To do that, Cebagoo FC advisor Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub, who was seen pretty much ecstatic about the whole idea at the club’s launching on Friday, insisted that they need to have proper planning, not only from the aspect of their participation in the national league, but also from the development side of the game.

And Hasnol sees the club moving towards the right direction.

In his speech, he said the club have taken a new step by contemplating to compete in the FAM Cup, which is dubbed as the country’s third division league after the Super League and the Premier League.

In fact, he added, participating in the competition itself is already an achievement for the club.

“We must learn from previous teams … their strengths, weaknesses and ask ourselves why they can only last for one season.

“But what is most important is that we must have a plan. Without planning we will not be able to achieve what we have wished for,” said Hasnol.

“The club finished as runners-up in the Under-16 tournament (local) and we also won the KK Carino League. I was also made to understand that we have Under-12 and Under-14 teams and this is what I call planning.

“With proper planning, it will push us to another level and along the way we must try to learn from our mistakes and try to keep improving.

Hasnol also thanked the Sabah FA for their support, before insisting it is their obligation to help clubs like Cebagoo FC for the development of football in the State.

He then proposed that the FA not only help the club financially, but also provide coaches or even players.

In fact he said there should be a situation where two parties must work together for the same reason that whatever success the club achieves is also Sabah’s success.

He also revealed that the government has allocated RM250,000 to upgrade the Menggatal town field, which is likely to be the club’s training base.

On the requirements the club need to fulfill, Hasnol was rather positive saying that they can see light at the end of the tunnel.

“We don’t want the same thing to happen to the club. And I can see light at the end of the tunnel, as there will be companies and individuals who are willing to come forward to help push Cebagoo FC’s noble efforts forward,” said Hasnol.

Cebagoo FC President Mohd Joh Wid, Sabah FA Secretary General Alijus Hj Sipil, Ben Wong from Ararat Sports & Souvenirs Sdn Bhd, players and hundreds of supporters were present at the launching.

Keputusan henti perlawanan adalah wajar - Mohd. Joh

Mohd. Joh....presiden Cebagoo FC
GL Oh

Bekas kapten skuad negeri, Mohd. Reithuddin Ag.

THE NATIONAL football team came up with an unconvincing 1-1 draw against Sabah in a friendly last night, their final game before leaving to Myanmar for the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup qualifiers tomorrow.

Though the team were in control for large parts of the match and carved numerous chances, their poor finishing cost them the win. More importantly though, it is obvious that the team has yet to gel and look like an experimental side.

The squad is constantly evolving and yesterday's performance in front of a sparse crowd at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas was the first time players from DPMM FC and those from the Under-21 side which won the Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy in March combined with the new faces in the team three separate factions trying to work together as one.

Though DPMM FC players such as Md Najip Hj Tarif and Md Hendra Azam Md Idris featured for the side during their 5-0 loss to Indonesia in a friendly on Wednesday, and during a series of friendlies against Malaysian clubs last month, last night's game saw the appearance of DPMM FC captain Rosmin Hj Kamis, strikers Shahrazen Said and his brother Adi, midfielder Azwan Salleh and goalkeeper Wardun Yussof for the first time in national colours.

Except for Rosmin, the other four started on the bench with coach Kwon Oh-son eventually changing the whole team as the game wore on. Shahrazen's introduction in the 63rd minute along with Azwan and Wardun was met with huge applause and helped to stir the team to life, with the hosts looking hungrier for the ball and more dangerous going forward.

It was was Shahrazen's 70th minute defence-splitting through ball to DPMM FC teammate Pg Hj Hassan that helped the national team edge ahead after the latter coolly slotted home past Sabah custodian Irwan Jamil's near post proving just how instrumental Shahrazen, the joint top scorer during the Malaysian Super League (MSL) 2006/2007 season, still is.

But the wholesale changes took its toll on the team and poor defensive organisation two minutes from time saw the impressive Shahrudin Yakup equalise with a thundering shot to the top-left corner after Brunei failed to clear the ball after a free-kick into the box which also might allude to a lack of focus.

Though the result was not important, what was more pressing for Kwon was how well his team has gelled or rather, failed to.

The team started training in July but the 13 DPMM FC players were only roped in in mid-September due to their tight Singapore League fixture. Only training with the team in the mornings, they are forced to miss the evening training sessions because of DPMM FC practice.

With time no longer on their side, Kwon knows he has a tough task on his hands as the team prepares to face hosts Myanmar in their opener on Friday.

"I'm not happy with the performance," said the coach.

"The team is continuously building and we are not prepared.

"The DPMM FC players only had a few training sessions with the team and they do not yet understand what I want of them on the pitch.

"They are the best of the best ... it's just that we have not had enough time to train together," added the South Korean.

His counterpart, though, seemed more optimistic.

A forward who made 110 appearances for Manchester United from 1974-1979, David McCreery also feels that Brunei should enjoy themselves at Myanmar and not put any undue pressure on themselves.

"Brunei are a young team and I think they will only get stronger," said McCreery

"I think when they go to Myanmar they should not worry about anything and just work hard. If it comes off, it comes off.

"Their coach will have to make a lot of difficult decisions but I'm sure he will do his best," added the coach.

The Sultanate also face Cambodia next Tuesday, Laos two days later and Timor Leste on Oct 13 with the two best teams advancing to the Nov 24-Dec 22 tournament proper which will be co-hosted by defending champions Malaysia and Thailand.
