Return of the prodigal son - Bobby Gonzalez

KUCHING: Sabahan Bobby Gonzales is officially back in town to play for the Crocs.

The hotshot striker and crowd favourites will be playing in the Malaysia Cup campaign after Sabah FA agreed to loan him to Sarawak.

His service is crucial as Sarawak seeks to solve their perennial striker crisis.

He is a proven hitman with good strike rate.

Bobby might be the right man for the job as his impressive16 goals in 21 appearances for Sarawak in 2011 helped the Crocs win promotion to the 2012 Malaysia Super League (MSL). And the supporters love him.

Speaking to The Borneo Post yesterday, Bobby commented that it was definitely great to be back here. He added that it was a hard decision to leave Stadium Negeri last year.

“I had to move back to Sabah as my family needs me there,” he said.

Bobby was apologetic to disappoint many of the Crocs’ fans when he left the team last year. He hopes he can make amends by playing a prominent role and contributing to the success of Sarawak at the Malaysia Cup.

When asked whether his move here will be made permanent, Bobby refused to reveal his future with the team but indicated that he would love to stay.

“We’ll see what happens after the Malaysia Cup. My current contract with the team is only for three months,” said the affable lad.

Hailing from Kunak, the former KL Plus FC striker was constantly in and out of his state team for the most part of his football career.

Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president Datu Sudarsono Osman when contacted yesterday revealed that any decision by FAS to sign Bobby on a permanent basis will be based on his performance in the coming Malaysia Cup competition.
